Yuletide: Dame Okowa Donates Food Items to Indigent Women in Delta
In her usual tradition during the festive season, wife of the state Governor and founder, 05 Initiative Dame Edith Okowa has presented food items to indigent women in the state.
Dame Okowa reached out to the women through the state House of Assembly members and the PDP House of Assembly candidates for the 2023 elections, at the government house, Asaba.
Addressing the candidates, Dame Edith Okowa disclosed that this is the eighth time she was reaching out to indigent women in the state, making it a yearly routine and thanked God for the privilege to give to the needy, adding that it means giving to God.
Dame Okowa explained that she decided to reach the people through their representatives in the state House of Assembly to create an avenue for bonding and to spur the members and candidates to equally emulate the gesture.
The governor’s wife urged the candidates to distribute the items which included rice, cooking oil and tomatoes judiciously, adding that through the gesture God would launch them into their desired positions.
While commending the Peoples Democratic Party’s efforts at reaching out to the people on ward to ward basis in their campaigns, Dame Okowa expressed optimism that come 2023, the PDP will cliche the 29 seats in the State House, saying Delta state belongs to the PDP.
The governor’s wife who assumed the position of a mother and sister while praying for the house members and PDP candidates, poured out her heart in intercession for victory come 2023.
Responding, the member representing Isoko South two and majority leader in the House, Hon. Ferguson Onwo and others who spoke lauded Dame Okowa for the gesture, pointing out that she had always played a motherly role to all deltans both great and young alike.
They described the Governor’s Wife as women with a heart of gold who depended on God for total victory and carried everyone along.
