By Jerry Onwuma

The Special Assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa (Special Duties) on Contributory Health Commission, Dr. Michael Nwoko has stated reasons why his Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa will continue to enjoy the support of Deltans and why he will be reelected by Deltans come 2019.

Dr. Nwoko made this disclosure over the weekend in his office, during a media chat with news men in Asaba.

According to him, the Governor has no doubt won the hearts of great majority of Deltans haven demonstrated great leadership capacity in less than three years of impactful leadership since assumption of office.

He said Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa being an exceptional prudent manager of resources has been able to reduce the debt profile of the state to 228billion compared to what the government met when it came on board. Also the state’s Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, has gone up as high as 51 billion in 2017, a progressive increase compared to what was obtainable in the previous years and in previous administrations.

Dr. Nwoko revealed that, Okowa has fulfilled greater part of his campaign promises, not minding, that he became Governor at the time when there was paucity of funds.

“From Asaba to every other parts of the state, there are countless number of massive developmental projects spread across the nooks and crannies of the state. In fact, Asaba and the State in general has become a construction site.

”There has been an overall upgrade of some major Technical Schools in the State and also a practical training and retraining of the manpower in such schools for a more comprehensive quality output.” Dr. Nwoko opined.

Dr. Nwoko further revealed that soon there would be a harvest of projects across the State. He stated that, apart from the over 70 roads fully constructed and commissioned, the bold step the Governor took in tackling the Asaba flood storm, which previous administrations could not attempt, a situation which hitherto has left the State capital with little to be admired, deserve commendations from all Deltans.

The S.A. equally said, just recently, his Excellency through the Commissioner for Economic Planing had announced plans to construct two pedestrian bridges in Asaba, precisely at Summit and Koka junctions along the Asaba- Benin-Onitsha Expressway. This according to Nwoko, will open up that entire axis (across the express) and reduce the burden and risk pedestrians go through on a daily basis while crossing the express road.

Going further, Dr. Nwoko again stated that the prompt and regular payment of workers salaries, social infrastructure where in over 5000 widows are now benefiting from free medical health care accompanied with monthly stipends and the appointment of over 200 liaison officers and many more is a clear demonstration that Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa truly has a large heart and totally determined to delivering uncommon dividend of democracy to all Deltans.

Dr. Nwoko further emphasized that apart from these uncommon achievements of his Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, another area where his Excellency has done credibly well is the relative peace across the length and breadth of the State, which according to him, is fundamental for development to take place in any human setting.

He therefore concluded that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa haven proved himself as a mastery in the “art” and “act” of good governance, Deltans can not but unanimously return him to office to finish and consolidate on the numerous good works he has began, come 2019.
