We are Determined to Rid Uvwie of Waste through Smart Green Environment – PSP President

*Lauds Governor Okowa for His Environmental Friendly Policies

The President, Uvwie Private Sector Participants (PSP) in Waste Management, Comrade Lucky Adjekuko has expressed determination to rid the area of refuse through his Smart Green Environment in line with the Smart Agenda of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

“We the PSP in Uvwie have taken it upon ourselves to embark on the vegetation control from the Effurun Roundabout along the NPA dual carriageway down to Prodeco Estate by clearing the grasses and planting of trees”, the Uvwie PSP President said in an interview.

According to him;” During the Townhall meeting of the Governor in Uvwie Local Government, the Governor challenged us on the need to keep the area clean always and based on this, I have embarked on the clearing of the NPA Expressway right from the Effurun Roundabout to the boundary between Uvwie Local Government Area and Warri South, work is ongoing now”.

He added that;”We are not going to stop there, we are also tackling indiscriminate dumping of waste along Jakpa Road, Airport Road, Refinery Road, DSC Roundabout, PTI Road and of course, the Effurun Roundabout itself. In the determination to control indiscriminate dumping of waste on the road and the Median, I have directed all PSPs working in the various zones to make sure they clear all waste along the Median in their various zones”.

Comrade Adjekuko reminded residents of Uvwie Local Government Area of the rain and appealed to them not to dump waste on the road side indiscriminately, saying that;”If you do, the rain will take them back to the drainage and by so doing, we are blocking the drainage and inviting flooding, so we should dispose our waste in the right way to avoid blocking of the drainage and littering the Highway and the Median”.

ā€œThe rains are here and this is the time for us to be extra careful in the way we dispose waste in the environment because if we are not careful the environment will be susceptible to flood because all the waste would have blocked the drainage systems,ā€ Comrade Adjekuko added.

Am using this medium to appeal for support from major companies along the Expressway and the State Government in order for us to sustain the Smart Green Environment. Am proud to say that our PSP is different from other PSPs”, he posited.
