Herdsmen Killings: Uwheru Community lauds DTHA Resolution, appeals to Gov Oborevwori on Security Measures
Uwheru community in Ughelli North local government area of Delta state under the leadership of the President General, Chief (Hon.) Macpherson Igbedi, has commended the leadership of the Delta State House of Assembly over their recent resolution on the Delta state government to beef up security in Uwheru kingdom.
The resolution at the Delta state House of Assembly on the Delta state government to beef up security in Uwheru community was taken following one of their kinsmen, a farmer, identified as Mr Ikukpeni who was alleged to have been brutally murdered by suspected herdsmen during the annual fishing festival in Emuede lake on Monday 5th, February, 2024, at his farmland.
In a statement signed by the President General, Chief Macpherson Igbedi and the Secretary, Chief Leader Uwre, they commended their representatives in the state house house of assembly, Hon. Spencer Owhofa, representing Ughelli North Constituency 2, who moved the motion and Hon. Mathew Omonade, representing Ughelli North Constituency 1, who seconded the motion for their quick intervention.
The statement released by the President General, Chief Macpherson lgbedi, had explained that Uwheru community has suffered several loses of both young and old being maimed and killed at their farmlands by suspected herdsmen for the past two to three decades without no reactions or any lasting solution to end the menace.
According to the statement, the resolution by the members of the Delta State House of Assembly, urging the state government to wade into the issues by providing 24hours security to Uwheru community is a welcome development, stating that no other organ apart from government that can stop this incessant attacks and killings of their people.
The Uwheru community under the leadership of Chief Macpherson Igbedi, has used the opportunity to call on His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to use his good office to direct all security agents to bim their searching light towards Uwheru community, crying out that Uwheru community have lost too many young men, women and old people in the Community.
