Urhobo youth leader preaches peace, peaceful co-existence at Easter
Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Youth Wing, Worldwide, under the leadership of its Ethnic President, Comrade Umukoro Efemena, yesterday, called on Urhobo youths and Deltans to imbued in them the virtues of peace, unity and peaceful co-existence.
Umukoro, in his Easter message to Urhobo youths and Deltans at large, noted that such tripartite virtues were a recipe for growth and sustainable development.
The youth leader’s message read in parts :” It is with great joy that I extend my best wishes to Urhobos, Deltans and Nigerians as we celebrate Easter. It is a moment of thanksgiving as well as an opportunity to reflect on the benefits of the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
“ From Holy Scriptures, we understand that the purpose of Christ’s death was to redeem humanity from the bondage of sin, establish His love on us and grant us access to eternal life.
“ In view of Jesus’ sacrifice, we should learn to tolerate our neighbors, so that the suffering, death and resurrection of Christ at Easter will not be in vein.”
The fearless Urhobo activist cautioned against inter-ethnic war in the state, saying that the memory of the Urhobo and Ijaw war in Warri was still fresh in the mind of survivors.
He advised all ethnic groups in Warri Federal Constituency to know that they were one-through marriage and religion.
