Trump Orders Removal of Remaining ‘Biden-Era’ US Attorneys
President Donald Trump has instructed the termination of all remaining US attorneys nominated by his predecessor, Joe Biden.
This was made known in a statement shared on Trump’s Truth Social platform.
He stated, “Over the past four years, the Department of Justice has been politicized like never before”.
“Therefore, I have instructed the termination of ALL remaining ‘Biden Era’ U.S. Attorneys.”
He also stressed the importance of restoring confidence in the justice system, adding, “We must ‘clean house’ IMMEDIATELY, and restore confidence. America’s Golden Age must have a fair Justice System – THAT BEGINS TODAY!”
It’s worth noting that replacing US attorneys nominated by a previous administration is a standard practice for incoming presidents. There are currently 93 US attorneys, each serving as the top federal law enforcement officer in their respective districts.
Following Trump’s November election victory, several US attorneys nominated by Biden resigned in anticipation of being replaced. The Justice Department has undergone significant changes since Trump took office, with numerous high-ranking officials being fired, demoted, or reassigned.
