THISDAY/ARISE Recognises Oborevwori’s Infrastructural Strides
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has been recognized for his outstanding achievements in office, receiving the prestigious Governor of the Year 2024 award from ThisDay Newspaper and Arise Television.
The award honors his exceptional fiscal discipline and infrastructural development of the state.
According to Prince Nduka Obaigbena, Founder of THISDAY and ARISE Media Group, while presenting the award on Monday stated that “Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State was underrated, but in his 18 months in power has not borrowed any cent from any bank and he keeps building infrastructure across the state”.
Chief Emeka Anyaoku, former Commonwealth Secretary-General, presented the award and congratulated Governor Oborevwori, describing him as an achiever with great positive accomplishments.
Governor Oborevwori dedicated the award to God and the people of Delta State, expressing his gratitude for their unwavering support and partnership. He shared the honor with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Umo Eno of Akwa-Ibom, and Uba Sani of Kaduna State.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Oborevwori said, “Let me sincerely congratulate THISDAY/ARISE Media Group on their 30th and 12th anniversary, respectively. This award is a recognition of our modest efforts in advancing Delta through our MORE Agenda. I dedicate this award to God Almighty and to the good people of Delta State”.
He emphasized that the award would motivate him to do more for the people of Delta, particularly in areas such as infrastructure development, education, and economic growth. “As a man with street credibility, we are in touch with the grassroots and, as we are building infrastructure, we are also building our people,” he stated.
Governor Oborevwori reaffirmed his commitment to the people of Delta, promising to continue working tirelessly to build a more peaceful and resilient economy in the years to come.
