Takeme Commends Okowa’s Development Strides, Enjoins Leaders To Be Truthful In Criticism


The Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has been commended for his commitment in spreading development to all parts of the state.

The immediate past Commissioner, Ministry of Urban Renewal, Chief Julius Takeme who gave the commendation while speaking with newsmen in Asaba, urged leaders in the state to be fair and truthful in their criticisms no matter the circumstance.

Confronted with a recent statement credited to a political leader in his Burutu local government area, Chief Takeme admonished the governor not to be distracted in entrenching more dividends of democracy to the people of Ijaw nation.

He said the efforts of Dr Okowa to right the wrong of the past, especially as it affects the riverine communities in the state particularly Burutu local government area was commendable.

He noted that the recent outburst by a political leader in Burutu local government area was unfortunate, stressing “I believed the man spoke in anger and out of frustration. The statements were unwarranted, uncalled for and malicious. There is the need for leaders to be conscious on statements they make publicly. Even Okowa’s worst critics can testify that the man has done well as governor of Delta State.

Chief Julius Takeme who advised those with negative intentions against the office of the Governor to retrace their steps for the interest of the state, said there was the need to join forces with the administration to build a stronger Delta State.

The Former Commissioner urged Dr Okowa to remain focused and never to be distracted by the antics of distractors.

He emphasized that the Governor must remain in the part of progress for the good, progress and prosperity of Delta State and its people.

Takeme who said the people of Burutu would remain grateful to Okowa for the projects executed in the locality during his first tenure, said more are being expected in the second tenure of the administration.

He assured the governor of the support of the people at all times.

Chief Takeme congratulated the recently sworn in appointees and urged all to put in their best to achieve a better and more developed Delta State.
