Speed Darlington Still in Police Custody, Court Order Overlooked – Adeyanju
Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has called out the Police Force over the continued detention of rapper Darlington Okoye, best known as Speed Darlington, despite a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja granting him bail on Monday, December 23.
According to reports, the Federal High Court granted the rapper unconditional bail, with the only requirement being for his legal team to present the ruling to the police legal department for processing.
Speed Darlington was first arrested in October following a petition filed by Burna Boy and was re-arrested on November 27 in Owerri, Imo State.
Adeyanju disclosed that despite submitting the court order to the police legal department, the police are yet to comply with the ruling.
He criticized the police’s actions via a post shared on his X handle, he wrote, “The Nigerian Police have refused to release Speed Darlington a.k.a AKPI despite the explicit order of the Federal High Court to do so. This is the highest form of disrespect to the judiciary.”
