Shallow Graves Operated by IPOB found in Imo State – Task Force


The Commander of the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, Brig-Gen Usman Lawal, has stated that some shallow graves have been discovered in Aku Community, Okigwe local government  Area of the state by the Joint Security Task Force in Imo State, also known as Operation Udoka, alleging that members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate, the Eastern Security Network (ESN) buried the victims.

Lawal said the shallow graves were discovered during a clearance operation at Aku community which has been under siege by a suspected IPOB Leader Ifeanyi Okorienta alias ‘Gentle for a long period of time’.

He added that during the raid, several stolen vehicles, arms, ammunition, and explosive devices were recovered.

According to CHANNELS TELEVISION report, during the tour around the area by the Commander who was accompanied by the State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, and the Special Adviser to the Imo state Governor on Security, Joseph Ogbonna, said the clearance operation at Aku community is part of the determination of all security operatives in the state in collaboration with the state government, to bring to an end the era of terror and insecurity in the state occasioned by the activities of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed affiliate eastern security network.

Lawal further disclosed that about 20 persons have been arrested and in police detention, also urging the general public to collaborate with security operatives to sustain peace and stability in the area.
