Senator Ned Nwoko Officially Resigns from PDP
The Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Prince Ned Munir Nwoko, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing deep divisions and factionalization within the party as his primary reason for leaving.
In a resignation letter dated January 30, 2025, and addressed to the PDP chairman in Ward 8, Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State, Nwoko expressed disappointment over the worsening internal crisis within the party, which he claimed had degenerated into physical altercations among top officials.
According to the senator, the January 29, 2025 clashes among party leaders highlighted the irreconcilable nature of the factions within the PDP.
He acknowledged the platform provided by the party during his 2022/2023 senatorial election but noted that the PDP’s current structure in Delta State was not conducive for delivering on the promises he made to his constituents.
“During my campaign, I made solemn and actionable promises to my constituents—commitments I take seriously as a servant of the people. Regrettably, the current structure of the party in our state has not been conducive to realizing these promises,” he stated.
Senator Ned Nwoko emphasized that his resignation was in the best interest of the people he serves and reaffirmed his commitment to the progress and prosperity of Delta North. He extended his gratitude to the party leadership and members for their support, wishing the PDP success in its future endeavors.
His resignation marks another high-profile exit from the PDP in Delta State. In December 2024, the lawmaker representing Ethiope Federal Constituency, Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu left the party citing lingering crisis.
