Senator Joel-Onowakpo Decries Unfair Treatment of Delta South by Successive Governments
…inaugurates Over 180 Legislative Aides to Serve Delta South.
Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, representing Delta South Senatorial District, has expressed concern over the unfair treatment of his constituency by successive federal governments.
The Senator stated that despite being one of the largest producers of crude oil and gas in the country, Delta South has been neglected in terms of infrastructural development, human capital development, and inclusiveness in governance.
Speaking at a Strategic Leadership Retreat for his legislative aides, Senator Joel-Onowakpo emphasized the need for urgent attention to the environmental pollution, erosion, flooding, and lack of development in the area.
He expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to address these issues.
In a landmark move, Senator Joel-Onowakpo appointed over 180 legislative aides to serve Delta South, exceeding the official entitlement of five aides.
According to the Senator, this move aims to accommodate all interests and ensure that the people of Delta South receive the best representation.
The appointed aides pledged to work assiduously to justify the confidence reposed in them and support the Senator’s efforts to attract development to Delta South Senatorial District.
The event was attended by prominent leaders and stakeholders from the Senatorial District, who showed their support for the Senator and the newly appointed Legislative Aides.
