Security: Aniocha North Council Boss Donates Operational Vehicle To Vigilantes
The Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. Chuks Oseme has donated operational vehicle with state-of-the-art security gadgets to the joint vigilante team at the council area.
While noting that security is everyone’s business, Oseme said the need for a joint vigilante team in Aniocha North had become imperative due to the contiguous nature of the area where boundaries between the various towns were literally non existent.
The Council boss said that due to the overstretched men and security facilities of the Police Force and the need to complement their efforts, led to the donation of the operational vehicle to the joint vigilante team.
He said, “The operational vehicle was fully fitted with a siren and loud speaker which is to aid in fishing out criminal elements from their hideouts as well as rescuing victims.
“The joint vigilante team to work in unity of purpose in order to achieve set goals of curbing insecurity in the local government. This is one in a series of proactive measures arising from the security summit organized in the local government in December 2019.
“I urge you to use this vehicle judiciously and work with the Police. When you make any arrest, hand over to the police, don’t be carried away with the job. We keep doing our best, these vigilantes need assistance”.
In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Hafiz lnuwa, commended the Chairman of Aniocha North for donating a fully fitted Toyota Sienna to the Aniocha North Joint Vigilante Team to help complement the efforts of the Police in curbing criminal activities in the local government.
Hafiz who was represented by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Onicha Olona Division, SP Chidi Usulor stated such novel gesture in reducing the crime rate in Aniocha North is worthy of emulation by other well meaning individuals and organizations
The Police Commissioner assured the people of Aniocha North that the State Police command will collaborate with the Joint Vigilante Team in the area to nip crime in the bud
Responding after the presentation of the vehicle, the Aniocha North joint vigilante team Chairman, Mr Johnson Osaha expressed gratitude to the Council Chairman, Mr Oseme, for the donation of the operational vehicle which is a clear demonstration of his proactive approach to curbing insecurity in the area. He pledged , on behalf of his team, to put the vehicle into good use.
