Chairman, Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Delta State, Hon. Oke Idawene has disclosed that SDP has kicked off a vanguard to takeover Delta State from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections, adding that the party is the main force for Nigerians to actualize true federalism and proper restructuring.
He stated this on Friday, May 11, 2018 at the Party’s State Secretariat in Asaba, while receiving aspirants who had come to declare their intentions to vie for elective positions in the State through the platform of the SDP in the 2019 election.
Idawene who also welcomed new members to the party at the occasion, hinted that SDP has recently welcomed an unprecedented number of decampees from the PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State, adding that its “Operation Register New Members in Delta State” has had tremendous outcome.
“We have various leaders of APC and PDP from Sapele, Ughelli and Isoko who today decamped into SDP. Today is a day of new beginning for SDP to takeover Delta State, we are taking over Delta State and entire Nigeria by the Grace of God. We have 10 immediate past PDP councilors from Bomadi Local Government Area and Chief Monday Irabor, an APC Chieftain in Ika North-East Local Government Area, who all decamped to SDP today.”
“When we take over, SDP will engrave true federalism, devolution of power, restructure the nation for food, for independence, for job creation, for light and for a better Nigeria. We must restructure Nigeria, that is the message for SDP.” Idawene added.
The party chairman who doubles as the, Chairman, Forum of State Chairmen, SDP Nigeria, further called on Deltans to go and get their PVCs, stressing that, “it is only with your PVC that you can use in getting who you want into power. So your vote is your power.”
