Utebor Installed Rotary Governor, urges Commitment to Global Change

Rotarian Emeke Michael Manasseh Utebor has been installed as the new Governor of Rotary International District 9141.
The investiture was held at Dome Event Center, Asaba, Delta State on Saturday, July 8, 2023, with a sea of rotarians from across the four states that comprises of the district in attendance.
Utebor in his acceptance speech, urged rotarians across the globe to embrace the power of hope, adding that it is hope that has guided the club for over a century.
Rotarian Emeke Utebor said, “we stand in unity here today embarking on a new chapter in our rotary journey and we are reminded of the incredible power we hold between our hands, the power to create hope in the world through genuine appreciation.
“In a time when our global community faces enormous challenges, such as high exchange rate amongst others, it is more important than ever to embrace this power of hope and use it to uplift those around us.
“Hope is not just mere wish, it is a powerful force that ignite the human spirit and motivate us to persevere in the face of challenges. It is this hope that has guided Rotary International over a century and it’s still counting.
“As we have worked tirelessly to create a better world, today let us reaffirm our commitment to rotary vision statement. Together we see a world were people unite to take action, create lasting change across the globe, in our community and in ourselves”, he added.
Also speaking at the event, the immediate past governor of the district, Rtn. Mightyman Dikuru, thanked all Rotarians for their presence and the support they have granted his successor, adding that it is a “time to thank those who have distinguished themselves.”
The Governor of Delta state, Sheriff Oborevwori, who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Johnson Erijo, commended the club for staying true to their vision adding that he look forward to areas where they can partner with the organization to achieve the goal of advancing Delta State on all indices of socio-economic development.
“I believe non-Government organizations like yours have a role to play in ensuring that more people are lifted out of poverty through skill training and entrepreneurship development programmes, such as we plan to implement in coming months,” the governor said.
The event witnessed presentation of awards to persons who have contributed greatly to the growth of the club. The awardees include; the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, Mr M.S.C Utebor, Late ROT. Sir Buddy Thaddeus Ewaleifo (KSM), PDG Gabriel Tony, PDG Bauchi Onuoha, Late RTN Alawode Olaide of D9140, PDG Adeyemi Oladokun, Mrs Stella Utebor, Rtn. Hubert Okolie, Rtn. Henry Uchechukwu Emelue, Anthony Uduebor and many others.
