Reposition DESOPADEC And Give Hope To Host Communities, Mulade Charges New Board
A Delta State born renowned peace and environmental rights advocate, Comrade Sheriff Mulade has congratulated the newly appointed members of DESOPADEC, charging them to reposition the Commission and give hope to the host communities in the state.
Comrade Mulade who is also the national coordinator of Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) while addressing journalists in Warri lauded Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for selecting competent hands to reposition the lost glory and hope of oil and gas bearing host communities of Delta State.
The Activist therefore implored those recently appointed to pilot the affairs of the Commission not to disappoint the confidence reposed on them, adding that they cannot afford to fail the people.
He said that; “I want to sincerely congratulate all of you for your well deserved appointments to pilot the affairs of DESOPADEC, you are the last hope of host communities.The expectations of oil and gas bearing host communities are high and you should not consider your appointments as stomach infrastructure fulfillment.
Those recently nominated by the Governor are: Hon. Michael Diden AKA Ejele, Chairman; Hon Bashorun Askia, MD/CEO DESOPADEC; Hon. John Obukowho Nani, Executive Director DESOPADEC Board; Olorogun Vincent Oyibode, DESOPADEC Commissioner Designate to represent Udu, Ughelli South & the Urhobos of Warri South; Barr. Leonard Anoka, Executive Director, DESOPADEC; Hon. Shedrack Agediga, Executive Director; Hon. Daniel Mayuku, Executive Director; Grifton Omastsuli, Member; Dr. Paul Oweh, Member; Chief Kent Okiemute, Member; Hon. Joyce Overah, Member; Dr Paul Bebenimibo, Member; Ikechukwu Akozor, Member and Dr Ossai Ochonogor Samuel.
While describing their appointments as well deserved as Executives and members of the Commission, the Activist said that; “I am very hopeful that all the appointees will make immense and significant contributions to the development of the oil producing and impacted communities of our dear State and charge the oil producing communities to give maximum support to the appointees.
He charged the appointees not to see their appointments as self-empowerment but to give maximum support to the Governor and deliver dividend of democracy through the commission to the citizenry of host communities in Delta State.
Comrade Mulade also used the medium to commend Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for identifying technocrat and competent hands to pilot the affairs of the commission and pledged to support the commission, the state government and the appointees on their new assignments, saying that; “And we are very proud to be associated with you all as well as our unflinching support for the success of your tenure”.
