Regrets As Over 300 Dump APC and Return To PDP In Delta State
Some politicians in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State who defected from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP to All Progressive Congress, APC at the wake of the inauguration of the APC led federal government in 2015 have returned with regrets over their decision to leave PDP for APC.
The returnees numbering over 300 from Orere Ward 8 in Warri South-West and led by Mr Tsola Wilkie and Toju Ekengbuda, said they were encouraged by the quality of leadership of the PDP lead administration in Delta state and commended the State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for ensuring that the party remains as one big united family despite the earlier challenges.
Speaking on behalf of others, Mr Tsola Wilkie said “the development strides of Governor Okowa would remain a great source of encouragement to many politicians in the state who left the PDP for APC in search of greater political relevance”, stressing that it was all regrets as the relevance they sought were not gotten.
He maintained “as the 2019 general elections draws nearer, many of us will retrace our steps and return to PDP to work for the victory of the party in all the elections. Some of us were being held back by pride, while some are finding it difficult to leave their benefactors who may be among the very few benefiting from the system no matter how bad”.
Mr Wilkie assured that together with others they will contribute their quota towards adding value to good governance in the state and pledged their commitment to the second term bid of the State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa.
He thanked Governor Okowa, the State PDP Chairman, Chief Kingsley Esiso, the Chairman of the party in Warri South West, Hon Johnbull Edema and other leaders including a former State Youth Leader of the party, Hon Andrew Igban for their steadfastness at bringing back to the PDP fold, all that defected from the party.
Receiving the returnees, a team of PDP leaders in the council area, including the Chairman of the party in Orere Ward 8, Mr Austin Kpogho, three Senior Special Assistants to the Governor, Simeon Iluwa, Sam Oligida and Esigie Omamofe, an aspirant to Delta State House of Assembly, Warri South West Constituency, Hon Andrew Igban as well as Pa Benjamin Evanigbrogede, Mr Peter Odin, Emmanuel Golly and Christy Omamofe commended them for retracing their steps.
They informed the returnees of the commitment of the Delta State Government led by Dr Ifeanyi Okowa towards sustaining the tempo of development in all parts of the state, stressing that what was most required is the support of all Deltans.
The PDP leaders enjoined the returnees never to allow themselves to be caught in the web of deceit, stressing that APC came with lyrics that pushed many unsuspecting Nigerians and even some world leaders into believing that the members are Change agents.
They stated that the party had succeeded in dragging the nation back, pointing out that it was time to change the change and commended Nigerians for their commitment at ensuring the return of PDP at the center, in 2019.
While enjoining those yet to return to the PDP family to do so without further delay as the party was big enough to accommodate all, the party leaders stressed the need for all that have attained the voting age to get their PVC as it is their power and only weapon to actualize their dreams.
