Red Cross Advocates Sustained Humanitarian Support

The Nigerian Red Cross Society, NRCS, Delta State Branch on Thursday, 17th May, 2018 celebrated the grand finale of the 2018 World Red Cross Day at the Nelrose Hotels Asaba with a call on good spirited individuals to continue to support the humanitarian efforts of the NRCS.
The Delta State Chairman of the Society, Mr. Adolphus Anuagasi who made the call while delivering his welcome address said soliciting their continuous support became necessary following the dynamics faced by the Red cross movement in carrying out their services.
Mr. Adolphus explained that the NRCS is an auxiliary to government and had intervened and managed various conflict and disaster situations both in Delta and the country as a whole.
He noted that the Theme of the 2018 world red cross day celebration which is Everywhere for Everyone:Smile is apt given the fact that the Red cross movement is about alleviating human suffering and putting smiles on the faces of the vulnerable.
The Chairman of the occasion, Surveyor Andrew Uwaje in the same vain explained that the NRCS passion to serve humanity is evident in how the organization has impacted on the lives of the vulnerable.
The head Sub-Delegation of the International Committee of Red Cross, Mr. Tim Ros said the red cross movement advocates on behalf of the vulnerable and it is currently active in one hundred and ninth one countries in the world.
Mr. Ros said the Red cross movement is a sure sign of hope and members are obligated to reflect same one their attitudes.
High point of the occasion was the unveiling of an ultra modern orphanage building project by the Delta State Vice chairman of the organization, Pst. Oghale Iboje accompanied by the State Chairman, Mr. Adolphus Anuagasi and the chairman of the occasion, Surveyor Andrew Uwaje.
The occasion featured a simulation exercise and the decoration of persons who have distinguished themselves in service to humanity.
Those decorated are DSP Usman Dimka, Chief Abike Ikejiofor, Chief Felix Bishop Eloanya, Chief Christopher Ojimba and Chief Victor Okafor.
Others are Chief Simon Mbadiya, Hon. Omoniye Godbless, Prof. Sam Egite Oyovbaire, Hon. Sir Itiako Ikpokpo, and Dr. John Osuyali.
