Primeboy Drags Mohbad’s Mother to Court Over Alleged Defamation, Demands N50m
A lawsuit has been filed by Owodunni Ibrahim, also known as Primeboy, against Abosede Aloba, the mother of the late singer Mohbad.
The lawsuit alleges defamation and seeks N50 million in damages.
The alleged defamation stems from a statement made by Abosede in a video interview on March 28, 2024.
In the interview, she claimed that Primeboy had an altercation with her son, Mohbad, before his death.
In response to the claims made by Abosede, Primeboy described Abosede’s statement as “libelous, injurious and malicious” in a letter which a portion was shared on Instagram.
Primeboy demanded that the singer’s mother should pay N50 million for “exemplary damages”.
“The sum of N50, 000,000.00 (Fifty Million Naira only) being exemplary damages for libelous, injurious, falsehood and malicious statement made of and concerning the Claimant by the Defendant in a video interview made on the 28th of March, 2024 and published in several news media and online news outlets, designed to defame the Claimant in the eyes of right-thinking members of the society,” the letter reads.
Abosede has been ordered to respond to the lawsuit within 42 days. Failure to respond will result in the case proceeding without her.
“You are hereby commanded that within 42 (forty-two) days after the service of this Writ on you, inclusive of the day of such service, you do cause an appearance to be entered for you in an action at the suit of the Claimant,” the letter added.
