Pope Francis Hospitalized with Complex Respiratory Infection – Vatican
The Vatican has disclosed that Pope Francis remains hospitalized at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, where he is being treated for a “complex clinical situation”.
According to the Vatican, the 88-year-old pontiff was admitted on Friday for treatment and tests related to bronchitis.
In a Monday update, the Vatican revealed that the Pope has developed a “polymicrobial infection” of his respiratory tract, necessitating a change in his treatment.
Before his hospitalization, Pope Francis had been experiencing bronchitis symptoms for several days, prompting him to delegate officials to read prepared speeches at events.
Vatican added that the Pope will remain in the hospital for as long as necessary.
