Police AIG Charges Commissioners on Security During Sallah

The Assistant Inspector General of Police, (AIG) in charge of zone 5 command, Benin City, AIG Abubakar Adamu Muhammed has charged Commissioners of police in Edo, Delta and Bayelsa states to beef up security in the three states to ensure a hitch-free sallah celebration in the zone.
In a release by the zone 5 Police Command and signed by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Emeka Ihenacho, the AIG Zone 5 Command directed police commissioners in the zone to beef up security around worship centres such as mosques, churches, recreation centres, radio and television stations, linking roads and all vulnerable and flash points in their various states.
The AIG enjoined the police commissioners to deploy the Striking and Tactical Squad, Safer Highway, Explosive Ordinance Division (EOD) and conventional patrol teams to city centres, linking roads and other strategic locations in their respective states.
“The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) directed Commissioners of Police (CPs) to beef up security in and around their commands, most especially, worship centres such as churches, mosques, recreation centres, cinema hall, radio and television stations, linking roads, as well as vulnerable/flash points”.
While appreciating members of the public and it’s strategic partners, the AIG reminded the police commissioners of crime prevention and control in the EMBER months and charged them to put robust crime prevention machinery in place to make zone crime free and safe during the period.
“On the other hand, the Assistant Inspector General of Police reminded the command Commissioners of Police about the beginning of “EMBER months” and directed that robust crime prevention strategies be adopted to ensure the reduction of crimes in their respective commands throughout the EMBER months”, the statement said.
