Plateau Crisis: Police Nabs Gun Manufacturer in Delta State

In its effort to mop up arms from the Niger Delta region, the Delta State Police Command on November 7, 2017 arrested an illegal manufacturer of locally made guns who confessed to be highly involved in supplying guns in the series of Plateau crisis.
The suspect, Ponsak Magani who is from Plateau State but resident in Delta State, was arrested by SARS operatives acting on a tip off at Ogbe-Owele quarters, in close Ibusa to Asaba.
Items recovered from the metal fabricator turned gun manufacturer include, one locally made revolver pistol, one locally made single barrel pistol, one drilling machine, One welding machine, one diesel engine generator and other items.
Parading the suspect, CP Zanna Ibrahim said that the arrest of Magani is a breakthrough for security agencies who have sacrificed precious effort in checkmating the proliferation of arms in the country.
The suspect, Ponsak Magani while speaking to journalists revealed that he has manufactured over 10 guns which has been used in Lantang Area of Plateau State.
He disclosed that the hand guns produced for his clients which he refused to disclose their identity, sold for between N5000 to N15,000 noting that he learnt the art of gun manufacturing from BUTECH in Plateau State.
Investigations are currently ongoing to ascertain his clients.
