Petroleum Minister: IYC Commends Buhari Over Sylva’s Ministerial Portfolio


The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) under the leadership of Barr. Pereotubo Oweilaemi, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for given Ijaw Nation a first class ministry to oversee in his second term.

The ebullient youth leader on behalf of IYC world wide gave this commendation on the occasion of the swearing in of new ministers and subsequent allocation of portfolios to them.

Former Governor, Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva was appointed as the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources which is one of the juicy positions in the cabinet of President Buhari.

In a press statement by Barr Pereotubo Oweilaemi as obtained by ASABA METRO, the IYC leader said;

“The position of the Minister of State for Petroleum given to the only Ijaw Minister in the Buhari’s cabinet is a welcome development.

“IYC commends President Muhammadu Buhari for the gesture. Indeed, he has proven to be President with listening ears. The Ijaw nation is very happy with our President for this kind gesture.

“We use this medium to also congratulate His Excellency, Chief Timipre Sylvar for being appointed as a Minister of State for Petroleum.

“With his wealth of experience in public office, we have no doubt that he will deliver in his ministry.

“We advice the new Petroleum Minister who is a product of the Niger Delta Struggle to commerce with the process of healing the wounds by bringing the government closer to the people. Congratulation once again.”
