Peter Obi Urges Respect for Kenneth Okonkwo, Advocates Harmony in Labour Party

Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has urged Labour Party members and supporters to refrain from attacking Kenneth Okonkwo, the party’s former Presidential Campaign Council spokesman, for his differing opinions.

Following Okonkwo’s resignation from the Labour Party due to ongoing internal strife and leadership issues, the party’s leadership labeled him a mole. In response, Obi emphasized that despite Okonkwo leaving the party, he remains a trusted ally.

On his social media account, Obi posted, “Yesterday, I read my dear brother Kenneth Okonkwo’s open letter expressing differing views on the issues within our party. Today, I saw various responses to his letter. I want to categorically state that Okonkwo remains my beloved brother and a trusted ally. I sternly caution against referring to him as a mole or making any negative remarks. Kenneth Okonkwo has stood by me through thick and thin, and his loyalty and commitment cannot be overstated.”

Obi highlighted the importance of respecting differing opinions within any group or movement. He stated, “Disagreements and differing opinions are natural in any group, society, or movement. It is essential to maintain respect and decorum even when we disagree. Differing views do not make someone an enemy, and it is crucial to engage in constructive dialogue rather than resorting to personal attacks.”

He added, “As a leader, I value listening and learning from those who have different opinions. I urge all believers in a New Nigeria to remain strong, resilient, and focused, and to refrain from making negative remarks towards Kenneth Okonkwo or anyone who disagrees with our views, strategies, or tactics. Unity, respect, and civility must prevail, even in the face of disagreement.”
