2019 Elections: PDP Can Not Afford to Loose Any Seat to Opposition Parties – Esiso


Ahead of political parties primaries for the 2019 general elections, the Delta State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Kingsley Esiso has assured of a level playing field for all aspirants, stressing that the party can not afford to loose any seat in the elections as a result of the imposition of an unpopular candidate on the people.

Speaking when he played host to a leading aspirant for Delta State House of Assembly, Warri South-West Constituency, Hon Andrew Omagbemi Igban, Chief Esiso said PDP has a stronghold of Delta State due to the good governance it has provided to the people over the years and appealed to aspirants to go about their aspirations as a people of the same family, united in love and with hearts devoid of hatred and acrimony.

“PDP has done well in Delta state. No one should see the race to represent the people as a do or die affair. We are a family bonded with unfiltered love. Many can aspire for a particular position but only one person will emerge as candidate for the party for the general election. There will be primaries where delegates votes will count. At the end of the primaries, all other aspirants are expected to fuse into the train of the candidate that emerged to deliver the votes for the PDP. In a family contest there are no losers, everybody is a winner”. Esiso advised.

The State Party Chairman who commended Mr Igban for the confidence he enjoys from his people, stated “I pray for you for God to grant you your heart desires. God alone gives power. You have served the state and your people as the PDP Youth Leader for Delta South Senatorial District. If God so decides that this time around you will represent them in the Delta State House of Assembly, it shall come to pass. No mortal can stop it”.

Esiso and Igban

Three PDP stalwarts in Warri South-West, Freeman Fregene, Toju Ojegbe and Anino Ajamighogho who were among the hundreds of party faithfuls that accompanied Igban on the visit to the State Party Chairman, said they were part of the numerous number of people and pressure groups in the constituency that talked the former youth leader into the race for Delta State House of Assembly in the 2019 general elections.

They maintained that Andrew Igban represents peace, stability and progress, stressing that as a tested and trusted representative of the people, his stake at the state legislature will attract a lot of progress and development to Warri South-West local government area.

For his part, Hon Andrew Igban said the visit was part of his ongoing consultations with critical stakeholders over his aspiration to represent the people of Warri South-West in the seventh Delta State House of Assembly, stating that he is in the race in response to the clarion calls of the people who have so much confidence in his selfless service to humanity.

Andrew Omagbemi Igban

Igban stressed “the achievements of Dr Ifeanyi Okowa’s led administration in Delta State has made victory for PDP a done deal in the forthcoming general election. Warri South-West being a stronghold of PDP requires a grassroots and committed party man to keep the flag flying. I have presented myself to the service of my people. They have assured me that they will deliver my candidacy to represent them in the state Assembly and I have also assured them that I can never fail them”.

He commended the PDP State Chairman for his prayers and advice as well as the state governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for his fatherly disposition towards all aspirants, disclosing that he had also consulted with the state deputy governor, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro and some other leaders of the party in Warri South-West for their support and prayers.
