Patani Council Boss In Police Net Over Destruction Of Commissioner’s Properties
The Chairman of Patani Local Government, Mr. Perez Omoun is currently in Police net at the GRA Divisional Police headquarters in Asaba the Delta State capital for breaking into the compound of a serving Commissioner (name withheld) in the state and destroying vehicles as well as injuring one of his drivers.
According to NewsNet, trouble started in the early hours of Sunday, December 13, 2020 when Mr. Omoun, forcefully gained access into the GRA Asaba residence of the serving commissioner by pulling down the gate with his Lexus SUV, after ramming into the iron gate.
He was thereafter alleged to have vandalized cars belonging to the commissioner, that of his wife and other vehicles parked inside the premises when he could not gain access to the commissioner’s bedroom.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya in a telephone chat on Sunday afternoon confirmed the incidence.
Onovwakpoyeya said that investigation is ongoing noting that possible charges of malicious damage may be pressed against the arrested council chairman.
Although the motive behind Mr. Perez Omoun action is still unknown as at the time of this report, investigations revealed that Omoun’s action may not be unconnected to the forthcoming council election in the state after he got fillers that his second term bid is likely to suffer a setback.
