Oshimili South PDP Holds Congress, Elects New Wards’ Executives
The Ward Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oshimili South Local Government Area, Delta State, has been described as unprecedented, following the massive turn out of party members and stakeholders to elect their leaders, on Saturday, July 27.
Speaking with journalists, shortly after monitoring the exercise in Wards 7, 6, 4, 11, 10, 5, 9 etc of the local government area, the Chairman of the party in the area, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji, who monitored the exercise with the Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government, Chief Obi Kelvin Ezenyili, said that he was delighted with the outcome of the exercise.
According to him, the congress was peaceful and well-embrace by the PDP members, who came out massively in the various wards to elect their leaders, adding that the outcome spoke volume of the party’s disposition towards democracy and the need to allow the peoples’ will to prevail.
He commended party members for maintaining decorum throughout the exercise, saying that he was personally impressed by the outcome and comportment of participants who exercised their franchise without reservation, just as he congratulated those who were elected in the various wards.
Ogbueshi Okonji used the opportunity to commend the state Governor, the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for ensuring continuity in development of Oshimili South local government area as initiated by the former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
He assured the support of the people towards the administration of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, adding that the governor deserved kudos for his developmental strides across the state.
Speaking to journalists at Ward Six, Hon. Chibuzor Uwaje said that the exercise was peaceful an charged the elected executive members not to see themselves as gods but to be ready to serve and carry everybody along.
At Ward Nine, a party leader, Mr. Tobechukwu Okonkwo, while celebrating the outcome of the exercise, commended the leadership of the party at all levels for the processes adopted in the congress.
Also at Ward Five, Hon. Taju Isichei described the exercise as excellent and well-organised to satisfy all interests, and also commended party leaders for their efforts.
At the various wards, the former executives were duly dissolved through a motion before the election of new executives in an exercise supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
