Oseme Flags Off Measles Vaccination Campaign in Aniocha North
Chairman of Aniocha North local government area of Delta state, Hon. Chuks Oseme has enjoined the people of the council area to allow their children to take measles vaccine during the ongoing vaccination campaign in the state.
The chairman, represented by the first lady of the council, Mrs Adaobi Oseme who made the appeal to the parents on Thursday, March 1, 2018 in Ugboba community during the flag off, urged them to make their children available during vaccination campaign to ensure that the people of Aniocha North stay healthy at all times.
According to her, “our chairman sent me here and this is my place, so feel good and relax as we flag off this measles vaccination program. It is a program that we cannot push off and it will have much impact in the life of our children”.
The council boss explained that measles is a critical childhood disease capable of causing any kind of sickness and even death, urging community leaders to assist in taking the children out from measles and other childhood diseases.
“Please, our parents should use this opportunity to vaccinate their children between ages 9 to 59 months at the nearest health facility or vaccination post, so as to live a healthy lives, and we pray when resources improve, this health post would be upgraded to full health care centre so that Ugboba will also enjoy good healthcare facility.”
The Head, Health Department, Doctor Charles Eboka said that the program which started with the flag off on the 1st of March would end on the 6th of March, noting that the program is being carried out every two years.
He explained that the drug does not kill or have any side effect rather than preventing blindness, deafness and other diseases that might arise.
In a remark, Prince Isaac Nwabuzor thanked the Chairman of the council for the good work in the council area, saying that this is the first time such flag off is taking place in the community since the inception of the local government.
He offered prayers for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Hon Chuks Oseme, who he described as God sent to the Delta state and Aniocha North respectively.
