Covid-19 Lockdown: Osanebi Sends Palliatives To Monarchs In His Constituency


Moved by the challenges of the times, a former Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi has donated food items to traditional rulers in Ndokwa East local government area.

The food items which include cows, bags of rice, cartons of Noddles, cash amongst others, according to Osanebi, were to cushion the effects of the Covid-19 lockdown in their homes.

The items were delivered to the palaces of the benefiting royal fathers, amid praises and encomiums over the benevolence of the youthful Lawmaker.

Osanebi had in the last two weeks distributed food items valued over seventy million naira to various categories of constituents across communities in Ndokwa East local government area as well as protective materials against Coronavirus pandemic in Ndokwa nation.

The Lawmaker who represents Ndokwa East Constituency in the House said the donations to the traditional rulers were made in partnership with a friend and philanthropist, Chief Godspower Avuru, in response to his resolve to reach out to as many people as possible at this era of Covid-19 lockdown.

Represented by his aides, Osanebi stressed “the respect and sanctity of the traditional institution can not be compromised or ridiculed. The dignity of any nation lies in her culture and tradition and must not be politicized. I therefore pledged my continued support and respect to my traditional rulers”.

The Lawmaker who is the Chairman, House Committee on Culture and Tourism, debunked insinuation that the monarchs were expected like every other person to be at the Primary schools in their communities to partake in the sharing of food items he brought to the local government area for distributions among constituents.

Osanebi commended the royal fathers for declining to the invitation which automatically denied them from getting a share of the distributed food items and funds.

He expressed optimism that the donated food items will help ameliorate the challenges of the times in their homes and urged them to sustain their steering roles in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic within and outside their kingdoms.

The Lawmaker also thanked Chief Godspower Avuvu for collaborating with him at ensuring that food were made available to the people.

The Chairman, Ndokwa East Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Jonathan Kanegide, JP, Igwe of Okpai, Igwe Golding Ugbomah and Igwe of Ase kingdom, HRM Ifeanyichukwu Peter Ogbe who were the beneficiaries of the gesture thanked Osanebi for the food items.

They prayed God to continue to bless him and members of his family, describing his philanthropic drive as worthy of emulation.
