Christmas: Tinubu, Oborevwori Support Delta Senior Citizens with Cash, Food

The First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Tuesday, through the Social Investment Programme of the Renewed Hope Initiative, disbursed the sum of Fifty Million Naira (₦50,000,000) to 250 elderly men and women from the 25 Local Government Areas of Delta State.
The cash presentation, which was held simultaneously across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, took place in Delta State at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Asaba, having beneficiaries from across political sides.
The wife of Delta State Governor, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, who represented Senator Oluremi Tinubu at the event, stated that the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, supported the gesture of the First Lady with 250 bags of rice, while on her part, she provided free medical checks and drugs for the elderly.
In her address, Senator Tinubu expressed her delight in the Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme (RHIESS), which is themed “Total Wellness: Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous Lifestyle,” emphasizing that the programme is designed to support the welfare of elderly citizens annually.
Senator Tinubu noted that the scheme aims to support 250 vulnerable senior citizens, aged 65 and above, in all 36 states of the federation, the Federal Capital Territory, and veterans from the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association.
She added that the Governing Board of the Renewed Hope Initiative decided to increase the grant from ₦100,000 to ₦200,000 for its second edition to provide further support to the elderly citizens during this festive period.
According to the First Lady, the total sum disbursed across the country is One Billion, Nine Hundred Million Naira (₦1,900,000,000), each beneficiary receiving ₦200,000. While wishing the senior citizens a happy holiday and a prosperous 2025, Senator Tinubu congratulated the selected beneficiaries and urged them to prioritize their health through regular exercise and a healthy diet.
On her part, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, in a welcome address presented by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Lady Catherine Onyeme, appreciated the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and the Renewed Hope Initiative team for this wonderful scheme, noting that “this kind gesture will go a long way in nation-building.”
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Sunny Onyejose, an APC stalwart, commended the wife of the President for the gesture and applauded the support of the State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and his wife for supporting the initiative with other humanitarian services.
