Okowa Receives NSCDC Asst. Commandant, Assures of Continued Partnership with Security Agencies


The Assistant Commandant-General, Zone G of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr Bassey Onoyom Bassey, Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Delta State Governor.

Receiving the NSCDC delegation at Government House Asaba, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa said that his administration will continue to partner with security agencies for Delta State to remain safe for socio-economic activities to thrive.

In his words, “as a government, we have always rendered assistance to security operatives to enable them carry out their functions; we will continue to work together and it is our hope that working with all the security agencies, we will be able to secure our state.”

Governor Okowa commended security agencies for the roles they are playing for a secured society to be achieved, noting that the NSCDC in particular has distinguished itself in the protection of oil facilities.

While expressing hope that the peace which has seen to a lull in the destruction of oil installations in the Niger Delta region would be sustained, the governor reiterated that such would amount to having more funds for developmental projects.

He said, “we thank God that peace is returning to our state and our nation and by the grace of God, we will find ways to assist you; we are very hopeful that we will have a better year, 2017 which will translate to improved revenue to our nation and our state for developmental projects.”

Speaking on the reason for the visit, NSCDC Asst. Commandant, Mr Bassey said that he was in Delta state to assess the activities of the State Command. He thanked Governor Okowa for his numerous assistance to security agencies and appealed for more logistics to enable them carry out their functions.
