Empowerment Programs: Okowa, Ibori, Others Commend Osanebi’s Effort To Erase Poverty In Ndokwa East
Over five hundred persons in Ndokwa East Constituency have been empowered with various items and cash valued at over Seventy Million Naira by the Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Friday Ossai Osanebi.
The presentation ceremony held at Beneku community in Ndokwa East and witnessed by cream-dela-cream in the society, including the State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, represented by the Rivers State PDP Chairman, Chief Felix Obuah and former Governor James Ibori, according to Osanebi, was geared towards enhancing the economic fortunes of the beneficiaries.
The empowerment items include 34 different brands of Cars, including SUVs, 50 Sewing Machines, 22 Motorcycles, 20 Generators, 56 Hair Dryers, 20 Grinding Machines and Cash.
Addressing the mammoth crowd at the event which turned out to be a mega political rally, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa commended the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi for the massive empowerment of his constituents, saying that the gesture was in line with his administration’s prosperity agenda.
Dr Okowa stated that he was committed to uplifting the lives of Deltans hence his administration had embarked on several programmes and projects across the state adding that the contract for the construction of a bridge across the Beneku river has been awarded.
The Governor who noted that the bridge would be completed in record time recalled that former Governor James Ibori during his tenure built and completed the Ase bridge, stressing that the Ndokwa nation would continue to have life transforming projects to enhance development.
He urged the people to translate their support to the PDP to practical votes on Saturday and March 2nd to enable him consolidate on his numerous achievements across the state.
While stressing the need for the people to come out and vote in election days, Dr Okowa said they should strive to improve on the electoral performance of 2015.
In his remarks, Former Governor James Ibori said Ndokwa East local government area had been a traditional PDP territory since 1999 and commended the people for their firm belief and commitment to the Party.
He commended Hon. Osanebi for reaching out to constituents through his various empowerment programs, stressing that the development would continue further enhance the economic well being of the people.
While admonishing all to shun those opposition political parties with fake electoral promises, Chief Ibori said he was impressed with the enthusiasm displayed by the people of Ndokwa nation towards enhanced development of the area and advised them to go about the forthcoming elections peacefully.
The State Chairman, People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Olorogun Kingsley Esiso said the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Osanebi has distinguished himself as an empowerment master as he had carried out several empowerment programs to his constituents.
He commended Osanebi for the massive mobilization of the people and urged them to vote for all PDP candidates from the presidential to House of Assembly.
The Deputy Speaker who represents Ndokwa East in the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi said the empowerment programs which had become a way of life for him was part of effort to consolidate on the prosperity agenda of the state government.
Rt. Hon. Osanebi flanked by his wife, Ogechi, thanked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and other stakeholders for standing by him through out his electoral litigation, saying the judgement had vindicated him and commended the governor for the commissioning of the five kilometers Beneku road.
“I will continue to do more for my constituents as a way of appreciating their unwavering loyalty, commitment and support to me and the PDP. This is my fourth major empowerment program in the present administration. We have vowed to be consistent with it until we drive poverty totally out of our land. Today, 34 Cars have been purchased for our people. We have also secured 22 Motorcycles, 50 Sewing Machines, 56 Hair Dryers, 20 Power Generating sets and 20 Grinding Machines for various economic needs geared towards rapid economic growth and development. More so, 115 women, 115 youths from our various polling units have been carefully selected by our leaders for this empowerment program. It is my desire that the intent and purpose of the gesture will yield the expected results”, Osanebi noted.
The Deputy Speaker urged those who are yet to benefit to remain expectant as it would soon get to their turn and urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items to improve their lives.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of a cars to the Igwe of Ase kingdom, by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, another to Mr Morrison Ogwu by Former Governor James Ibori and to Mr Ndananu by the State PDP Chairman amongst others.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke thanked the Deputy Speaker for the empowerment items saying that it would make life easy for them.
Former Governor James Ibori flanked by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and other dignitaries later commissioned a new edifice built by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi in his Beneku community.
Guest were treated to gospel music by some notable gospel artiste as well as rib cracking jokes by some comedians.
The ceremony was also attended by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, some members of the National and State Houses of Assembly, civil Commissioners, traditional rulers, captains of industries, some political big weights across the country and other dignitaries.
