Okowa at 64: Your Footprints are Glowing on the Sands of Time – Guwor
Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Emomotimi Guwor, has felicitated the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, on his 64th birth anniversary.
Guwor, in a congratulatory message to the former Governor, noted that he had left his footprints on the sands of time with the legacy projects credited to his administration.
The Speaker said the cordial relationship between the Executive under Dr Okowa’s watch, and the State Legislature, contributed largely to the stability and vibrancy of the State Assembly, which positioned it for constitutional role of making laws for the peace, order and good governance of the state.
He stated that as the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta during his eight years tenure as Governor, Okowa gave purposeful leadership and direction to the party, which made it difficult for the opposition to infiltrate the state.
Guwor said posterity would remember Okowa for standing up for equity and fairness in Delta politics, against all odds, stressing that the development made it possible for power rotation and zoning of key political offices to be sustained to give every Senatorial district of the state a sense of belonging.
“On behalf of my family, the Honourable members, management and staff of the Delta State House of Assembly, I heartily felicitate our immediate past Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, on the auspicious occasion of his birth anniversary.
“It is my prayer and wish that God should keep him strong and healthy to contribute more to the service of Delta state and the country.
“As Governor of our dear State, His Excellency did marvelous well to promote peace, good governance and stability in Delta polity. He who finds peace, shall inherit peace. Therefore, peace, good health and God’s abundance grace shall remain with him and his household”, Guwor said.
While wishing Okowa happy returns of the day, the Speaker used the opportunity of the birth anniversary to again, call for support to the administration of his successor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori to advancing development in Delta state, through his M.O.R.E. agenda.
