Okowa Appoints New Board Members, Forwards Names To Assembly For Screening


Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has reconstituted the boards of Delta State Rural Development Agency and the Delta State Waste Management Board.

Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori who presided over Tuesday’s plenary read two separate letters containing the names of the nominees.

According to the letter from the governor, the nominees for appointment into the Board of the Rural Development Agency are Chief Solomon Areyinka as Chairman, Vero Obuh, Dame Roseline Akoyere, Mr Chukwueku Mathias, Elder Ben Nwadiashi and Dio Susan as members .

The Governor said the reconstitution of the Board of the Delta State Rural Development Agency followed the expiration of the tenure of the board and in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 4(3) of the Delta State Rural Development Agency law 2001.

The Majority Leader, Hon Tim Owhefere moved a motion for the House to receive the letter for further consideration and was seconded by Hon Asupa Forteta.

The nominees for appointment into the Delta State Waste Management Board are Hon Emmanuel Bazim Chinye as Chairman, Mr Sylvester Oromoni, Mr Jude Onyia and Daniel Ighedo as members

According to the Governor, the reconstitution of the Delta State Waste Management Board also followed the expiration of the tenure of the board and in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 4(2) of the Delta State Waste Management Board law 2004.

The Majority Leader, Hon Tim Owhefere moved a motion for the House to receive the letter for further consideration and was seconded by Hon  Pullah Ekpotuayerin.

Thereafter the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori directed the nominees of both boards to submit 35 copies of their curriculum vitae to the office of the Clerk on or before Wednesday September 4, 2019 and should appear for screening on Thursday September 5, 2019.
