Ohanaeze Ndigbo Mourns as 11th President General, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu Dies at 82
The 11th President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has passed away. His death was confirmed by his son, Jide, in a statement released on Thursday, July 25, 2024.
“The Iwuanyanwu family of Umuohii Atta, in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, announces the demise of our patriarch, Engr Chief Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Iwuanyanwu-Ahaejiagamba Ndigbo,” the statement read.
“Chief Iwuanyanwu died on Thursday, July 25, 2024, after a brief illness. He was aged 82.”
Chief Iwuanyanwu was not only the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide but also the President of Owerri Peoples Assembly. He leaves behind his wife, Frances Iwuanyanwu, along with numerous children and grandchildren.
The family will announce funeral arrangements soon after necessary consultations.
Born in September 1942 in Umuohii, Ikeduru LGA, Imo State, Iwuanyanwu was a renowned businessman and politician who served as the 11th President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
