Hon Ochor who reflected the achievements of Governor Okowa, especially as he became the chief executive officer of the state, when the Nigerian economy nosedived, said that there is a lot for the people of Delta North to celebrate their own, as he had weathered the storm of the recession that affected the country, due to the fall of world oil prices.
“If we can reflect and go back to history, and remember that this governor took over when the Nigerian economy was at its lowest ebb, and he still navigated the stormy water to carry out development projects in all the Senatorial District of the state, then this man needs to be celebrated. And if we the people of Delta North cannot celebrate our own, then who will? He asked.
He described the governor as a pragmatic and resilient man, who had managed the resources of the state with great statesmanship of special skill of an economic manager.
The 2019 House of Assembly Hopeful used the opportunity to thank the governor for his supports to DESOPADEC, and the people of Ukwuani, as the government has ensured that Ukwuani local government area benefited from its development agenda, as most abandoned projects in the area is being completed, and commissioned as in the case of the Umutu Skill Acquisition Centre, the ongoing work at the Umutu Community Market, projects long abandoned and had being completed and commissioned or being completed after many years of abandonment, and other projects like the Ekpemili Primary School, Obi-Ogene, Ebedei, the deflooding of the Obiaruku Main Market, renovation of schools in Amai, Ezhionum, and constructions of roads in the local government area, is enough to celebrate the governor.
“The Ukwuani people, who are my people should ignore the opposition, let us celebrate this achiever of our time. He had done what many had not expected him to achieve. He had lived his name, “EKWUEME.
Hon Ochor state further that the reception was also used to mobilise the people of Delta North for his second term bid, as the party, and the governor will need the great support from the people of the area to complete his second term in office.
