Oborevwori Sponsors Anorectal Malformation Correction Surgery for 7-year-old Girl

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori has sponsored an anorectal malformation corrective surgery on a 7-year-old girl who was born with congenital anomalies.
The case of little Miss Ishioma Ifeanyi was brought to the attention of the Governor and his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, by the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on August 17, 2024.
Governor Oborevwori through the office of the First Lady of Delta State, swiftly identified the young girl and reached out to the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Asaba for immediate action.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, December 2, the Chief Medical Director of FMC Asaba, Dr. Victor Osiatuma, said that the corrective surgeries have gone through two successful stages at the medical facility.
Dr Osiatuma commended the First Lady’s intervention, saying her excellency’s interest in the case was a game-changer which has given the young girl a second chance at life.
He further appreciated the support of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his wife towards the surgery at the medical center in the State, giving reassurance to the medical institution in the country.
Speaking on behalf of the First Lady of Delta State whose office oversaw the surgery, Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mrs Alicia Dominic-Okobi applauded the team of medical doctors who spent over 11 hours on Saturday, November 30 on the novel surgery. She thanked the management of FMC for the support towards the success of the process.
Lead surgeon, Professor Emmanuel Ameh and his team Dr Chisom Udeigwe of the National Hospital Abuja, alongside Pediatric Surgeon, Dr. Oghenekako of FMC Asaba, said that the surgery involved the opening of an anus, vagina and Urethra. Dr. Ameh added that the team looks forward to the little girl’s successful recovery and rehabilitation.
In the same vein, a one-year, three-month-old baby identified as Victory Enueme, who was also born with the same malformation, on Sunday, December 1, benefited from the expertise of the medical team at FMC Asaba.
