Oborevwori Promises Sustained Stability of the State Legislature, As He Marks One Year in Office
The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori is one year in office as he was elected to head the state legislature by his colleagues on 11 May 2017.
Speaking in an interview with Assembly Correspondents in Asaba on his one year in office, Rt Hon Oborevwori thanked God for the journey so far and commended members for their support and cooperation.
Describing the period as very eventful, the Speaker who represents Okpe Constituency in the house, stated that the legislature had remained peaceful and stable within the last one year with records of several achievements as an arm of government.
Rt Hon Oborevwori maintained that the Lawmakers were now more committed to their legislative functions as enshrined in the 1999Ā constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, stressing that attendance to sittings have tremendously improved.
The Speaker noted that with the great support of members of the House, the legislature had been able to record huge successes in terms of passage of bills and oversight functions.
Rt Hon Oborevwori also commended the Clerk and staff of the State House of Assembly for their support as well as journalists covering the house for their cooperation and effective reportage.
The Speaker predicted better days ahead, maintaining that quality of debates on bills and motions will continue to improve by the day as members were not relenting in their collective towards peace and good governance in Delta State.
Rt Hon Oborevwori paid glowing tributes to the State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for encouraging a good synergy with the house, noting that the legislature had worked closely with the executive arm of government for the overall growth and development of the state.
The Speaker assured that the sound and healthy working relationship and good understanding that exist between the both arms of government will be sustained.
