Oba of Benin Condoles Anambra People on Ozubulu Killings

The Oba of Benin, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, has commiserated with the Catholic family, the government and people of Anambra state over the killing of worshipers at the St. Philip Catholic Church, Umuezekwe Ofufe, Amakwa Ozubulu, Anambra state by gunmen on Sunday, August 6, 2017.
In a statement by Desmond Agbaman, the Chief Press Secretary to the Oba of Benin said, the Royal father in a condolence message on behalf the Royal family, Chiefs and people of Benin kingdom condemned the killing, describing it as a dastardly act and national tragedy.
“In a condolence message on behalf of the Royal Family, Chiefs and people of Benin kingdom to His Excellency, Willie Obiano, the Executive Governor of Anambra State, HRM Oba Ewuare II condemned the killing in it’s entirety, describing it as a national tragedy”.
While praying God and the ancestors to grant the families of the deceased the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, the Benin monarch challenged the various security agencies to carry out thorough investigation to fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act and make them face the full weight of the law.
“His Royal Majesty called on the various security agencies to carry out proper investigation to fish out and prosecute those behind the gruesome killings.
“The Benin Monarch prayed that God and the ancestors should grant the families of the deceased the fortitude to bear the great loss, wishing that such a calamity will never again befall our nation and community”, the statement concluded.
