Nwoko Releases N100 Million For the Rehabilitation of Onicha Ugbo-Idumuje Ugboko Road


Prominent lawyer and pan Anioma advocate, Prince Ned Nwoko has commenced the rehabilitation of the failed portion of Onicha Ugbo-Idumuje Ugboko road, in a characteristic display of community service .

Speaking in an interview at Abuja, Prince Nwoko disclosed that an indigenous engineering firm,ULO limited has been mobilized to undertake the repairs of the road at a cost of over 100 million Naira. He said he single handedly paid for the reconstruction of the road as he was passionate about the growth and sustenance of his roots.

According to Nwoko, he took it as a personal duty to renovate the road to boost the development of Anioma land. He expressed optimism that with the dry season, the road rehabilitation would be completed before Christmas .

Prince Nwoko said the Onicha Ugbo-Idumuje Ugboko road holds socio-economic importance not just for the Anioma people of Delta North, but Nigeria as a major link to the Federal Capital from the South South and South East zones.

He said he was drawn to philanthropic activities as his modest contributions to communal development and improvement of the quality of human life especially the welfare of those in his immediate environment.

“I seek the joy of people with the divine blessings in my hands. True fulfillment to me comes from charity. I believe selfless service devoid of pecuniary benefits or glorification is the most enduring value of anyone with a privileged fate.” Nwoko said .

He pledged greater dedication to rural integration as well as urbanization especially in Delta North.

The portion of the road now under repairs which has been abandoned since another stretch was renovated last year .

It would be recalled that Nwoko had a year ago rehabilitated another section of the Onicha Ugbo-Idumuje Ugboko road in collaboration with an Anioma son, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, the current Minister of State for Petroleum.

A gesture that proved a great relief to passengers traveling to Abuja and other Northern – bound commuters who were often trapped for hours in gridlock as a result of the dilapidated road.
