Nwaoboshi Trial: EFCC Lead Lawyer Commends Anti Corruption Crusader For Evidence Based Testimonies
By Patrick Ochei
EFCC lead lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Wemimo Ogunde handling the corruption case brought before the Federal High Court Ikoyi, Lagos State, against the Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Peter Nwaoboshi, has commended anti corruption crusader, Prince Kpokpogri for his explicit testimonies in the ongoing trial of the Senator.
It was gathered that Ogunde had openly applauded Prince Kpokpogri, stating that he remains one of the best testifiers in anti corruption cases in recent times.
When we put up a call to Kpokpogri to ascertain the criticality of today’s trial of Nwaoboshi, he said marvelous in the affirmative.
According to him, “I was cross examined as a witness by Nwaoboshi’s lawyers, led by Azinge SAN. I was not carried away by the retinue of big name lawyers he (Nwaoboshi) paraded, neither was I intimidated. The evidence in the documents presented before the court spoke for themselves. We are in stage one of the case, the EFCC is still preparing charges for the equipment procured and all the alleged fraudulent dealings in NDDC. All the questions put before me, relevant and non relevant I answered all properly”.
Kpokpogri however, admonished Nwaoboshi and his cronies to stop peddling cheap propaganda against him, adding that he should rather prepare for the reality of an already opened prison gate.
Again, he hinted that he approached Arc. Ogeh as the then DESOPADEC Commissioner of his intention to make him a Trustee of the Anti Corruption Crusader and Integrity Forum when registered. He said Ogeh did not decline, and when the Group was eventually registered, he informed Ogeh that he had been made a Trustee.
Speaking further, Kpokpogri disparaged the Nwaoboshi’s loyalists for claiming that he is just a Trustee of a non registered NGO, affirming that he is duly registered to fight corruption and expose corrupt and fraudulent practices in the society.
“I can make anybody my Trustee. How has it been Nwaoboshi’s problem that Arc. Ogeh was made a Trustee of my Anti Corruption Crusade? As the chairman of the Forum, I have the power to make anybody my Trustee or remove such”, he posited.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that another case linking Senator Peter Nwaoboshi is coming up at the Code of Conduct Tribunal in Abuja. The source revealed that Prince Kpokpogri is still testifying in the case, and already on his way from Lagos to Abuja. It appears that the cases are unending, as we gathered that same Kpokpogri has other three appearances to make in court, to testify against many alleged fraudulent dealings of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi.
Moreover, all efforts to reach some of Nwaoboshi’s loyalists to make comments on issues raised from the latest court trial proved abortive.
