Nwachukwu Tasks Government On Food Processing Institute As Departments In Varsities


A Senior Special Assistant on Agriculture to the Delta State Governor, Dr Eric Nwachukwu has called on Federal and State Governments to see the urgent need to establish Food Processing Institutes in institutions of higher learning to enhance and deepen innovation in agricultural produce and its value chain in the sustainability as a thriving economy.

Dr Nwachukwu stated this in a lecture Presentation to mark the 2021 International Youth Day Master Class organised by the Delta State Ministy of Youth Development on Friday, August 13, 2021 in Asaba.

He stressed that market forces should not determine agricuture produce but policies of government that is targeted at instituting Agric commodity boards which is the main aggregator of agric produce.

The Governor’s aide encouraged youths to get involved in feeding the nation; by driving Innovation in the sector and feed Africa as some Europeans and American Countries are doing.

While appreciating the State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for bold effort in encouraging and establishing youths in agriculture, he noted that goverment alone can not do it and called on well spirited individuals and NGOs on the need of financing Agric programs in Delta state.

Nwachukwu assured Deltans of the State Government’s commitment in stemming the tide of insecurity so as to allow farmers gain access to their farms.
