NUJ Delta Commends Buhari For Appointing Ika Born Maj. Gen. Leo Irabor As CDS
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing the Ika born Maj. Gen. Leo Irabor as the new Chief of Defence Staff, CDS.
In a statement issued on January 28, and signed by Comrades Michael Ikeogwu and Patrick Ochei, Chairman and Secretary of the State Council, the journalists appreciated President Buhari for recognizing hardwork in his choice of those to take up the mantle of leadership of the military service in the country.
“Let it be known that the President has done noble by heeding to the voices of Nigerians who had consistently clamoured for a change of Service Chiefs amidst rising insecurity in the country.
“We therefore congratulate the new Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. Gen. Leo Irabor for his well deserved appointment as Chief of Defence Staff.
“We hereby call on the CDS and other Service Chiefs to as a matter of expedition, get to work to help bring to an end the incessant security challenges bedeviling the nation. They should bring their wealth of experience, expertise and extraordinary concept to bear in prosecuting the war against insecurity, especially in the areas of terrorism, banditry and kidnapping”, the statement read.
