Not for Sale – OpenAI Rejects Elon Musk’s $97.4 Billion Bid
OpenAI has made it clear that it’s not interested in selling out to Elon Musk, despite a whopping $97.4 billion bid from the tech mogul.
Chris Lehane, OpenAI’s Chief Global Affairs Officer, dismissed the offer at a sidelines of an AI summit in Paris, saying “OpenAI is not for sale and any such suggestion is really disingenuous”.
Lehane didn’t mince words, implying that Musk’s bid was motivated by his own struggles to keep up with OpenAI’s technology.
“It’s coming from a competitor who has struggled to keep up with the technology and compete with us in the marketplace,” Lehane said.
OpenAI’s CEO and co-founder, Sam Altman, also weighed in on the bid, telling Sky News that the platform is “not for sale”.
It’s clear that OpenAI is committed to maintaining its independence and continuing to develop its AI technology without external influence.
