Nigerian Air Force Personnel Gets New Accommodation Quarters in Abuja


In its renewed effort to promote service delivery, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar has commissioned new accommodation quarters for Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel in Abuja.

The residential quarters situated within the NAF Valley Estate would increase the available accommodation for NAF personnel within the Federal Capital Territory.

Air Marshal SB Abubakar, who was the Guest of Honour at the event stated that training of officers and men must be complemented by decent accommodation for airmen to discharge their responsibilities with the appropriate efficiency.

According to the CAS, ‘’we cannot have a professional Air Force if we do not take care of the welfare of officers and men.’’

The CAS disclosed that, in addition to the provision of quality accommodation, the current NAF leadership has upgraded NAF medical facilities and established both primary and secondary schools across NAF units in the country.

Furthermore, a youth empowerment scheme was initiated under the Barrack Youth Empowerment through Agriculture Programme to help dependants of NAF personnel to become self-reliant.

The new blocks were named after some personnel who lost their lives in the course of their service to the country.

They include late Master Warrant Officers Zabesan H, Atama AP and Warrant Officers Sababa J and Onah M. Others were Flight Sergeants Warres E, Awodi EA, Hassan TM and Sergeants Mohammed SM, Karatu LA, Ebute GE and Umar A. In addition, Corporals Timon PM, Deshi W, Tanko DJ, Chigonti AH, and Lance Corporals Garaga G, Umar RI, Ishaya AV, Taofik ZS and Mbam EN were honoured. Similarly, blocks were named after Aircraftman Joseph A, James SG, Jamilu I and Ofonih EE.
