Ndokwa Political Leaders Embark On Road Show Of State Govt Projects In Ndokwa Land


Political office holders from Ndokwa ethnic nationality in Delta State on Monday, September 7, 2020, embarked on Inspection tour of on going projects by the state government in Ndokwa Land.

Led by the Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Ochor Christopher Ochor, the government officials commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the development projects across the three local government areas in Ndokwa nation.

The team, made up of both elected and appointed  officials, including the Member Representing Ndokwa West Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Charles Emetulu, Commissioners for Housing, Chief Festus Ochonogor, Finance, Fidelis Tilije, Trade and Investment, Chika Ossai, the Chairman, Delta State Internal Revenue Service, Chief Monday Onyeme, Chairman, Ndokwa West Local Government Council, Hon. Christopher Osakwe and the Commissioners Representing Ndokwa ethnic nationality in the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, Dr. Samuel Ossai, Mr. Ikechukwu Akozor, among others, were received on arrival at the multi million naira Kwale-Beneku road and bridge project by the State Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye.

The top government functionaries stated that it was gratifying that the projects were not white elephant in nature, as they inspected the Kwale-Beneku bridge, the Eke Modern Market project, the Umusam road and the proposed phase 2 of the Iselegu-Onuabor Road project, geared towards the construction of Bridge across the Ase River to link Iselegu and Onuabor communities.

At the Kwale-Beneku road and bridge project, the Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye stated that work has reached an advanced stage on the bridge and that it would be delivered in 2021.

Chief Augoye explained that the length of the bridge is 360 meters with an approach Road of 1,500 meters, stressing “this is one of the longest bridges constructed by this administration. It involves two bridges, a smaller one of about 40 meters span and another that is about 320 meters.

The Works Commissioner stated that there are provisions for walkways in the project, which he said was awarded in 2018.

The leader of the team, Rt Hon Ochor Ochor who represents Ukwuani Constituency in the House, expressed satisfaction of progress of work on the bridge project, commended the State government’s commitment to finish the job.

The Deputy Speaker on behalf of the people of Ndokwa nation thanked Governor Okowa for the project which he said will open up communities in Ndokwa East and Ndokwa West local government areas.

At the Eke Modern Market, the Commissioner for Trade and Investments, Hon. Chika Ossai, highlighted the social and economic values of the market, which he said is ready for commissioning.

Hon Ossai disclosed that the project was started by the Ndokwa West Local Government Council but abandoned before it was taken over by Governor Okowa’s administration.

He promised that the state government will provide other facilities including water, electricity and waste disposal bins in the market, disclosing that networks of internal roads were also being executed in the market.

The State Commissioner for Finance, Chief Fidelis Tilije, who spoke along side with the Deputy Speaker during interview with newsmen at the end of the Inspection, stated that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa did not only ensure that Ndokwa sons and daughters hold key positions in government, he has also executed landmark projects in the area.

The Finance Commissioner debunked fears of abandonment of any of the projects as a result of funding, saying that the state government was up to date with the financial obligations to the contractors handling the various projects.

Chief Tilije stated that Ndokwa nation never had it so good and urged the people to sustain their support for the Okowa’s administration.

The Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Ochor Ochor said the project inspection in Ndokwa communities continues, stressing that the exercise was being carried out under the auspices of “Ndokwa Sons And Daughters Holding Elective And Appointive Positions In Government”.
