NDDC: Urhobo Youth Leader Kicks Against Interim Management, Urges Buhari To Inaugurate New Board

The President, Urhobo Youth Council, Comrade Godspower Enerho has lent his voice to the call for the inauguration of the substantive board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC as approved and forwarded by President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR and confirmed by the Senate.

In a statement from his office, the President opined that the continuous stay in office of the interim board is a travesty of Justice and equity and withstands truth, decency and decorum in and within our public sector and therefore stands condemned.

“Today, I join lovers of Fairness, Justice and equity within our democratically contrived institutions, particularly those that are created to impact on our region, as it is with the NDDC, to condemn the continuous delay in the inauguration of the Pius Odubu led board as confirmed by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Since the board is a creation of law, and an interim board is antithetical to the spirit and letter of its binding element when a substantive board has been properly confirmed by the Senate, the motive for the continued stay in office of the interim board is therefore not only questionable but suspicious. It is not just illegal but a travesty of justice, stands truth on its head and therefore remains condemned in all forms and ramifications.

“We call on Mr President to put a halt to this malfeasance by inaugurating the screened board which has Chief Bernard Okumagba as Managing Director without further delay. We also align ourselves to the impeccable stance of the Senate to have no dealings whatsoever, with the interim board whose emergence in a commando-like manner, in the first instance, stands out as a very bad precedence if allowed to thrive any further”, it added.
