Dame Okowa Leads Mothers, Women on Prayers for Peaceful Elections in Delta, Nigeria


Wife of Delta governor, and founder 05 Initiative, Dame Edith Okowa has led mothers and women on an intercessory prayers for the country and the state.

The prayer conference tagged, “Mothers Arise, Let your Voice be Held”, is an annual event of the First Lady and was held on February 2, 2023 at Government House Chapel, Asaba with over 400 women and mothers in attendance.

Dame Okowa who went memory lane, recalled how lives have been impacted through the programme, adding that God has been faithful, even as she acknowledged her predecessor, Deaconess Roli Uduaghan who initiated the programme sixteen years ago.

Speaking on the theme “Stewardship”, Dame Okowa said God was the owner of the Earth, and that everyone would give account of their service to God, irrespective of position or location on the last day, stressing that faithfulness was required of every steward.

While stressing the need for every believer to be led by the spirit of God, the governor’s wife, charged all to always seek the will of God before embarking on any project, adding that God’s grace made the difference in the life of every true believer.

The prayer conference which attracted women from different denominations as well as wives of traditional rulers, wives of clergymen and political women leaders featured intercessory prayers for peaceful elections in Delta state, the land of Nigeria and prayers for youths.

The conference featured special ministration from popular gospel Artist, Mercy Chinwo.
