Lookman Informs Atalanta of Decision to Leave
Nigeria international striker Ademola Lookman has informed Atalanta management that he plans to leave the club this summer. According to reports, Lookman and Atalanta had a “gentleman’s agreement” allowing him to decide his future at the end of the season.
Lookman’s decision to depart Atalanta has sparked interest from top European clubs. Barcelona and Newcastle United are among the major clubs monitoring his situation, with speculation also suggesting that Napoli and Manchester United may bid for the former Everton striker.
Nottingham Forest have reportedly set their sights on signing Lookman, with the club aiming to strengthen their squad for a potential Champions League campaign.
The Tricky Trees have shown ambition this season, signing Elliot Anderson for £35 million from Newcastle United. Despite Jota Silva’s impact since joining in August, Nottingham Forest have identified Lookman as a potential standout recruit.
Commentator Matteo Bonetti has described the 27-year-old Nigeria international as “world-class” due to his performances in Serie A. While Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi have shone on the flanks for Nottingham Forest, the club is eyeing an opportunity to sign Lookman.
However, Nottingham Forest will face competition for Lookman’s signature. Tottenham Hotspur have previously considered recruiting him, and Juventus may also attempt to secure his services.
Aston Villa have expressed interest, but they are currently prioritizing a permanent deal for Marco Asensio and evaluating whether to trigger a £40 million option to buy Marcus Rashford.
Paris Saint-Germain are unlikely to enter the race for Lookman, having signed Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli during the winter transfer window. Despite this, Nottingham Forest remain determined to make waves in the transfer market and have set their sights on signing Lookman in the coming months.
