Lawmaker, DESOPADEC Distribute Furniture To Schools In Delta LGA
The lawmaker Representing Ika North East in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Anthony Elekeokwuri has distributed school furniture to some selected Secondary and Primary schools in Ika North East local government area.
Hon Elekeokwuri said the gesture was part of efforts of the state government towards enhanced quality of teaching and learning in schools across the state.
The Lawmaker who is the Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts, said the school furniture project was executed in collaboration with the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC.
Hon Elekeokwuri at the flag off of the distribution of the Furniture to the benefiting schools, said promoting standards in schools across the Constituency was one of his electioneering promises to the people of Ika North East.
Flanked by the Commissioner Representing Ika Nation on the board of DESOPADEC, Mr Anslem Nwaokonye, the Lawmaker enjoined the Schools Heads to ensure good use of the Furniture and guide them against vandalism.
He said the furniture can not go round all the schools at the same time, stressing that efforts were on for more of the furniture, even as he appealed to well meaning individuals, town unions and corporate organizations to intervene in that regards.
Hon Elekeokwuri thanked DESOPADEC for collaborating with him for the school furniture, saying that the development had helped in addressing the furniture needs of the benefiting schools.
He commended the state governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for his strides in the education sector, saying that much positive development have been recorded by the administration in the sector.
The Lawmaker assured of sustained support of the people of Ika North East to the PDP led administration, pointing out the need for the commitment of every Deltans to good governance in the state.
The benefiting schools include, Owa secondary School, Owa-Oyibu, Owanta Secondary School, Owanta, Oke primary School, Mbiri, Ute-Okpu Grammar School, Ute-Okpu, Erumu Mixed Secondary school, Ute-Erumu, Ute-Ogbeje Secondary School, Ute-Ogbeje as well as Umunede mixed Secondary School, Ede Grammar School, Ijehon Primary School and Ukpeghoro Primary School, Umunede.
The furniture were received by the School Heads, including Principals, Headmasters, Headmistress and leaders of the various communities were the schools are located.
Those who spoke thanked Hon Elekeokwuri for the schools furniture and promised their judicious use.
